Exam #4 part 2 World War II

  • The rise of Nazism was a group of people who felt that the Jews were the main cause of everything bad in the world. This group of people were anti-christian and wanted to wipe out every single human who were "religious". The conditions were horrible after World War II, people were poor with no food, and many people didn't have jobs. This help Hitler because he came in at a time where if he said the right words people would go with it because they had nothing else left to loose.
  • Hitler won the election because he had the best people in office for him that made him look good. At first he was probably very nice but then he used threats to make himself powerful and that's how he won office and became a dictator. People didn't rebel because of all the power that Hitler had. One wrong move and they were dead or maybe it was because it was something new and he said that if they kept believing in him he would give them what they wanted.
  • People's reactions depend on what you say, If i were to say that i was going to lower taxes and save you a lot of money, your probably going to be excited and want to vote for me. Where as if my opponent were to say that they were going to raise taxes and do a bunch of useless things with the extra money your now paying, your reaction will probably say no way and vote for the other person whose going to save you money.

Exam #4 part 1 Spanish Civil War

  • The definition for propaganda is.. ideas or rumors deliberately spread to help or harm a person group or movement. This differs from art because a picture is showing the opinion of the artist and what he or she thinks. propaganda is deliberately trying to corrupt the other side where the artist is just expressing their feeling of the situation.
  • Picasso's painting of Guernica is art. I say this because this is what Picasso saw in the bombing, we don't know what ever one else thought because we can't talk to them. Picasso's painting is abstract, it has people running and laying down, it also has people morning for help.
  • Germany bombed Guernica because Germany wanted to see how much it would take to be able to bomb a city. Hitler did a pretty good job of for what he was looking to do he killed many many people in taking this action.

Battle of Stalingrad

1.What does Joseph Stalin's advice to the people of Stalingrad say about him as a leader? This shows that he's harsh because if you would surrender or retreat you would be shot.

2.Explain why Hitler would react in the way shown after signing a Non-Aggression Pact with Stalin? It was an illusion to make Stalin think they were friends when really all he was going to do was hoodwink him.

3.Explain the significance of propaganda in this battle, using examples from the posters. The posters signify that the Germans were bad people. This also was to motivate the Russian soldiers to kill the Germans.

4.What do the extremes of the war reveal about what it takes to win a total war? To make the Germans supplies dwindle, there for they don't have any weapons and they're hungry. This is an advantage to the Russians so that if they wanted to attack they would win.

5.How does the story of Vasily Zaitsev relate to the war in Iraq? The people of Iraq since they were little were taught to kill their enemy. Vasily was taught the same thing where he was born.

6.In times of crisis, sometimes heroic figures emerge. Which figure emerged in a similar way to Vasily after the terrorist attacks of 9/11? The fire fighters, I say this because they went into the burning building after the people and risked their lives.

Have you ever sacrificed something for your family? In the book Julia's Hope, the father or husband sacrifices the way he feels about asking someone to stay in their house for his family and their wants. Julia sacrifices he food, water and blankets for her kids, she's determined to find a place to live so her family doesn't have to roam the countryside poor. This shows to never give up because you can find what your looking for like Julia. The importance of the theme outside of the book is, if everyone gave up and didn't try then this world would be a lousy place. If you constantly try and don't give up when hard things are thrown at you; you will become a stronger person. In the book,Emma lets the Wortham's stay in her house, Emma comes and lives with the Wortham's Julia and Emma deliver one of the Hammond babies and Samuel makes Emma a wheel chair as a way of saying thank you.
The two main characters Julia and Emma either show or develop the theme by the actions they take in the book. Julia is a loving, caring women who knows how to provide for her family; when things get tough she pushes through and doesn't quit. This is important because the book takes place in the Great Depression The great depression began in October 1929. During the great depression people heavily depended on the government to provide food. The great depression lasted about one decade. During the great depression millions of jobs were lost and 250,000 young people were homeless. The cause for the great depression was the inequality of wealth among the people. In the book Julia is providing for her family the best she can while her husband can't. Julia never gives up and by doing that she finds a place to live and puts food on the table for her family. The second main character Emma, is a women who gives and gives and gives. After Emma's husband died and she lost her leg, before moving to a new town she gave away almost everything she had except for her house and what she brought with her. After Emma goes home to live with the Wortham's she continues to get sick. However Emma continues to live every day to the fullest.
Although I loved the book and reading it, I didn't get much out of it. This book relates to me because i already live my life like this;not giving up. A personal example of not giving up is when my grandmother had breast cancer and she fought for her life instead of giving up and dieing. Everyday there are people going through rough times such as parents getting divorced and people dieing. People realize that you shouldn't give up;It's normal for people to feel like giving up but they don't, because if they did life wouldn't mean anything to them, people normally go back into the world and keep living.
The authors purpose was to entertain their audience. I think the author did a good job because she kept me entertained and wanting to read more. I do think the characters are believable because the struggles they went through could happen to anybody. For example the father losing his job and having to move his family some where new, The theme's believable because people all the time are never giving up. For example the family realizes if they had given up, life would suck so they pushed through. In Julia's Hope by Leisha Kelly she illustrates if you don't give up on life things might turn out how you want them to.

The colombian Exchange

The Colombian Exchange transformed the world in a more radical( a really big change) way than any other development in world history. One significant effect of this process( the action of moving forward or on.) was the establishment of the Triangle Trade. While many factors were a part of the Triangle Trade, the rapid growth in both supply and demand for new commodities was the largest motivating element. This time period may be best associated(to enter into union; unite) with economic developments, but it is impossible to analyze(to examine carefully in detail to find the key cause.) this period without considering the intense social impact that the Triangle Trade had on those involved. In truth, a full understanding can only be gained by appreciating(to be grateful or thankful)how economic and social factors(one who acts for someone else) impact each other in history.

The paragraph above is about the Colombian exchange. The Colombian exchange was the beginning of the eastern and western hemispheres coming together to interact. This was a radical change, which means it changed in a very big way. The triangle trade was apart of that process, process means to move forward or on. The triangle trade was where commodities such as sugar tea and coffee were to people in Guinea for slaves. The three places that were apart of the triangle was Africa, Europe and North America. It's easy for people to analyze or in other words for people to look at the situation closely and know exactly happened because of factors that were involved through history.

Industrial Revolution summary

The Industrial Revolution was a time where women and children were treated poorly. They worked with big machinery that had alot of open parts and that were dangerous the machines could kill or seriously injured a worker. If someone got injured on the job that was ok because they could always higher a new worker. Women and children mostly worked because they were easily intimidated by the boss if that boss were a man. Women and children didn't have any rights in the work force and were not appreciated by the government.

Essay pic # 3

This picture looks like it deals with textile mills there are big machines that do something with paper. The men in this picture are working with big machines with not very many people around. The machines aren't safe and the government doesn't have very good regulations on making the machines safe for the workers.

Essay Pic #2

In this picture there are women and little girls working. The little girl could get her hair stuck in the machinery. In the industrial revolution all the machinery was open and it was dangerous. In this picture the wheels were open and not hidden so there's even more danger.

In the Industrial Revolution, kids would work in big factories with dangerous open equipment. When working with the big machinery there wasn't any adult supervision. In this picture young boys are working with big needles or pins of some sort. The danger of kids working with big and open machinery is that they could get their clothes stuck in the machinery or their hand and get hur or even die.
