Essay pic # 3


This picture looks like it deals with textile mills there are big machines that do something with paper. The men in this picture are working with big machines with not very many people around. The machines aren't safe and the government doesn't have very good regulations on making the machines safe for the workers.

Hello
Those machines are actually textile roller printing machines. Believe it or not a textile mill that I used to work had 5 of those, the oldest one was built in 1919. This was back in 1996 when I worked there. They finally axed them down and went to the newer rotary screen printers.

The rollers were copper engraved rollers and the printer would apply color paste to the pan under the roller and a brush would apply color to the roller and a sharp blade would cut the color off of the roller and transfer it the the fabric.

Old, hot, dangerous machines. I saw a guy get three fingers chopped off in one.
